
The Challenge
Fitness Passport gives Australians access to over 1,300 gym facilities nationwide. As the platform grew increasingly popular with Australian employers, its legacy on-premises infrastructure could no longer handle the volume of customer data being aggregated and processed from multiple sources.
The existing system was a bottleneck — inhibiting business expansion and failing to meet performance requirements for both individual users and corporate clients. Fitness Passport needed a cloud-native solution that could scale on demand and support rapid feature delivery.
The Solution
Kodez identified AWS microservices running on AWS Lambda as the ideal architecture for Fitness Passport's processing requirements.
Microservices architecture
The implementation divided each processing domain into discrete microservices built on .NET Core with SQL Server for backend databases. Each microservice was given its own API secured with OAuth2 authentication and developed in Angular for faster implementation and maintainability.
DevSecOps pipeline
Kodez integrated build artefacts and automated tests into CI/CD pipelines following DevOps and DevSecOps best practices. Every deployment was automated, traceable, and gated by automated quality checks.
Cloud-native scalability
The move to AWS Lambda enabled the platform to scale automatically to meet peak demand without manual intervention — eliminating the capacity ceiling that had constrained the on-premises environment.
The Outcomes
DevOps pipeline templates now enable Fitness Passport's IT teams to build and demo new microservices in weeks rather than months — a step-change in delivery velocity.
The cloud-based solution provides granular security controls, peak demand management, and rapid feedback cycles with stakeholder engagement. The modern platform has also helped attract top-tier developer talent to the organisation.
